Statement On Names No Longer Included On All-Time Georgetown Football Roster
Dec. 1, 2024

The all-time player roster on this site is the most exhaustive effort yet to compile a list of former football players at Georgetown University. While printed rosters exist for well over a century, a number of the early years contain no extant rosters. Many of the players cited prior to 1920 are referenced from the 1947 history of the program as authored by Washington journalist Morris A. Bealle (1891-1972).

In constructing his annual rosters from newspaper articles, Bealle listed a handful of players who played as reserves in a single season, often by by a last name, such as "Alger" or "Muran". These surnames do not appear as students in student or alumni directories during the dates when they would have played. These names are no longer included on the all-time list until they can be verified otherwise. This includes the following:

Alger, 1907
Davis, 1919
Elderberry, 1919
Kelly, 1918
Kober, 1906
Morman, 1901
Muran, 1894
Rancher, 1906
Rhinard, 1900
Stevenson, 1902
Sykes, 1902
Tate, 1903

Another name appears as a starter over two seasons, with articles citing him as having formerly played at St. John's College (Annapolis, MD) and a local Washington athlete. This surname does not appear as a student in student or alumni directories during the dates when he would have played. This name is no longer included on the roster until such time as he can be identified and a determination made as to his enrollment status.

Camden, 1891-92
