Bill Church (1899, 1901)
The University's first full-time head football coach was Bill Church, who played collegiately at Princeton, which earned him All-America honors in 1896.
Church coached Purdue in the 1897 season and the 1899 season at Georgetown before accepting an offer to be a player-coach with a semi-pro team in Pittsburgh, the Homestead Library Athletic Club. According to a contemporary article in the Washington Post, Church might have also coached at Duquesne University, although the school has no coach listed in its records for that season.
Church returned to Georgetown for the 1901 season. His further whereabouts are unknown.
